Frequently Asked Questions
General FAQs
What is YachtLogic.Ai?
YachtLogic.Ai is the marine industry’s most comprehensive AI-powered platform, built by a career captain with over 25 years of professional experience on vessels up to 145 feet. The platform brings four distinct products under one intelligent ecosystem: Yacht Logic Connect (free for all boaters), Yacht Logic Pro (for marine service businesses), Yacht Logic (for mega yacht crew), and Yacht Logic Marine Solutions (enterprise consulting and services). Every product was built to solve real problems that the founder encountered firsthand on the water — not in a boardroom.
Which Yacht Logic product is right for me?
There is a product tailored to every type of person in the marine world. If you own or operate a recreational boat of any size, Yacht Logic Connect is your free starting point — it gives you digital boat records, AI document extraction, marine weather, and a direct line to service professionals. If you run a marine service business (detailing, mechanics, electronics, yacht management), Yacht Logic Pro is your all-in-one operating system. If you are a captain or crew member on a vessel 60 feet or larger with professional crew, Yacht Logic (the mega yacht app) is purpose-built for your daily operations. If you need enterprise-level consulting, website builds, or marketing infrastructure for your marine business, Yacht Logic Marine Solutions handles
that.
Is this just another generic software company that added “marine” to the name?
No. YachtLogic.Ai was founded by Kevin Kates, a career captain who spent 25+ years running vessels including a 132-foot Trident motor yacht, a 61-foot Jamie Chadwick sportfish, and a 36- foot Invincible. He built the first version of this software in 2007 out of frustration with tools that simply did not understand how marine businesses and vessels actually operate. Every feature in every product was designed around a real workflow problem he or his team experienced directly.
What makes the AI in YachtLogic.Ai different from other AI tools?
Most AI tools scrape the open web and return generic answers. The AI inside YachtLogic.Ai — including the upcoming Ask Yachtie assistant — is trained on a proprietary database of real marine service jobs, real vessel issues, and real verified fixes contributed by working marine professionals. When you ask Ask Yachtie a question, you are not getting a web search result. You are getting an answer drawn from thousands of real-world marine scenarios, supplemented by OpenAI where broader context is needed. The goal is to be the most accurate marine AI in the industry.
What is Ask Yachtie?
Ask Yachtie is YachtLogic.Ai’s proprietary AI assistant, currently in development and coming soon to the platform. Unlike generic chatbots, Ask Yachtie is powered by a curated database of real marine technician knowledge — actual problems, actual diagnoses, and actual solutions from working professionals. It will be available across the YachtLogic.Ai ecosystem to help boaters troubleshoot issues, help technicians diagnose problems faster, and help captains manage vessel operations more intelligently.
Are all four products connected to each other?
Yes. The ecosystem is intentionally integrated. A boat owner using Yacht Logic Connect can send a service request directly to a marine service company running Yacht Logic Pro. The service company receives the request, creates a job, dispatches a technician, and invoices the client — all within the same connected platform. Yacht Logic (the mega yacht app) shares the same data architecture, and Yacht Logic Marine Solutions supports businesses across the entire ecosystem with marketing, web, and operational services.
Is there a free option?
Yes. Yacht Logic Connect is completely free forever for all boaters — no credit card required, no hidden fees, and no premium tier. It includes digital boat records, AI document extraction, maintenance cost tracking, marine weather and tides, and the ability to connect directly with marine service professionals. Free means free.
Where is YachtLogic.Ai based?
YachtLogic.Ai is headquartered on the Treasure Coast of Florida — one of the most active boating and sportfishing regions in the United States. The team is made up of active and former marine professionals who use these tools in their own operations.
How do I get started?
Boaters can download Yacht Logic Connect for free on iOS and Android — no credit card required, instant access. Marine service businesses can book a free 15-minute demo of Yacht Logic Pro to see the platform in action. Mega yacht crew can request a demo of the Yacht Logic app. All starting points are available at YachtLogic.Ai.
Yacht Logic Connect
Yacht Logic Connect is a free mobile app for any boat owner or operator, regardless of vessel size or experience level. It gives every boater a digital home for their vessel — storing boat records, tracking maintenance costs, providing real-time marine weather and tides, and connecting them directly with professional marine service providers. It is the customer-facing portal of the YachtLogic.Ai ecosystem, meaning that when you need service, you are connected to verified professionals already using Yacht Logic Pro.
There is no catch — and there is no premium tier. Yacht Logic Connect is free forever, full stop. No credit card required, no hidden subscription fees, no feature gating behind a paywall. You get complete access to digital boat records, AI document extraction, maintenance cost tracking, marine weather, tides, and the service connection feature from day one at no cost.
This is one of the most practical features in the app. Instead of manually entering your vessel’s hull ID, engine serial numbers, model numbers, and specifications, you simply take a photo of the document — a survey report, an engine plate, a builder’s certificate, or a registration document — and the AI automatically reads the document, extracts the relevant fields, and populates your boat profile. What used to take 20 minutes of manual data entry takes about 10 seconds.
Yacht Logic Connect provides real-time and forecast weather data including wind speed and direction, wave heights, radar, and marine forecasts. Tide data is sourced from NOAA. The app also includes astronomical data — sunrise, sunset, and moon phases — which are essential for planning fishing trips, night passages, and tidal window operations.
When you need service on your vessel, Yacht Logic Connect allows you to submit a service request directly from the app. That request is routed to marine service professionals in your area who are using Yacht Logic Pro — meaning they are verified, active businesses with the professional tools to handle your job properly. You can track the status of your service request, receive updates, view invoices, and store your service history all in one place.
Yes. Yacht Logic Connect allows you to store your insurance policy information and emergency contacts within your boat profile. This information is accessible when you need it, without having to search through emails or physical documents.
The standard profile supports up to 3 vessels. This covers the vast majority of recreational boaters who may own a primary vessel, a tender, or a second boat.
Yes. Yacht Logic Connect is available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. It is a mobile-only application optimized for on-the-water use.
The boat business card is a shareable digital profile for your vessel — a photo of your boat combined with owner and vessel information that you can choose to share with other boaters, marinas, or service providers. It can be shared within the YLC community and connected to social media. Recipients must have a Yacht Logic Connect account to receive and store a shared boat card.
Yacht Logic Connect is the customer-facing portal for businesses running Yacht Logic Pro. When a boat owner submits a service request through YLC, it arrives directly in the service company’s Yacht Logic Pro dashboard as a new lead. The service company can then convert it to a job, assign a technician, track the work, and send the invoice — all while the boat owner monitors progress through their YLC app. It creates a seamless, paperless service experience from first contact to final payment.
Yes — this is coming. Yacht Logic Connect is being expanded to serve as the customer portal for marinas, boat yards, and high-stack storage facilities. This will allow boaters to request launches, check slip availability, pay bills, view past invoices, and submit service requests directly through the app. Payment processing through Stripe will support ACH, multi-currency, and enterprise features.
Yacht Logic Pro
Yacht Logic Pro is a purpose-built field service management platform designed exclusively for marine service businesses — including yacht management companies, marine mechanics, electronics technicians, detailers, boat yards, and marinas. It replaces disconnected spreadsheets, paper work orders, and generic field service tools with a single mobile-first system that handles everything from lead capture and job creation to time tracking, inventory, invoicing, and accounting sync. Currently running Version 6.1, it is actively developed with weekly updates.
Instead of manually entering each job field, you simply speak or type a description of the work that needs to be done — for example, “Schedule a 500-hour service on the Grady-White for next Tuesday, assign to Mike, priority high.” The AI instantly creates a fully structured work order with the job name, description, assigned technician, dates, and priority populated. You can also paste a list of multiple tasks and the AI will create all of them simultaneously, turning what used to take an hour into a two-minute task.
Yes — Yacht Logic Pro was built mobile-first. Field technicians can manage their entire workday from a smartphone or tablet: clock in and out, view assigned jobs, complete interactive task checklists, upload photos, scan barcodes to add parts, view GPS maps to navigate to boat locations, and track time against specific jobs — all without returning to an office or opening a laptop.
Yacht Logic Pro tracks two separate time streams simultaneously. Employee time cards record when a technician clocks in and out for payroll purposes. Job timers track the actual billable hours spent on each specific job. This distinction is critical for accurate job costing — you know exactly what each job cost in labor, which allows you to price future work more accurately and identify where your team’s time is actually going.
Yacht Logic Pro integrates with QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, and Xero. The integration is bidirectional — invoices generated in Yacht Logic Pro push directly to your accounting platform, QBO sends back invoice numbers and payment status updates, and tax settings configured in QBO are automatically applied. This eliminates double-entry bookkeeping entirely.
Yacht Logic Pro gives you multiple ways to onboard a new client — because we believe you should run your business the way you want to. You can embed a lead capture widget directly on your business website so inquiries come in 24⁄7. You can email or text the onboarding form directly to a customer from within the app. Or you can hand them a link on the spot. However the client comes in, the system sends them a customizable digital consent form for electronic signature via YachtSign Pro — our built-in e-signature tool included at no additional cost, saving your business thousands of dollars per year compared to a standalone DocuSign subscription. DocuSign integration is also available for businesses that prefer it. Once the form is signed, the lead appears in your dashboard as a verified, consented prospect ready to be converted into a job — completely paperless from first contact to work order.
Every technician’s smartphone becomes a barcode scanner. When adding parts to a job, technicians open the parts section and use their phone’s camera to scan the UPC code on any part. The system instantly looks up the part in your inventory, adds it to the job with the correct pricing, and deducts it from available stock. No manual part number lookup, no typos, no inventory discrepancies.
Yacht Logic Pro tracks inventory across four distinct quantity states: Available (ready to use), On Hold (reserved for a specific job), On Order (purchased but not yet received), and On Hand (total physical count). You can filter inventory by supplier — including major marine distributors such as Land N Sea — and the system supports distributor price file uploads via CSV for accurate cost tracking. Purchase Orders are also available in beta.
Yes. Yacht Logic Pro includes a dedicated subcontractor module that allows you to add external contractors, assign them to jobs, track their time separately from employees, and manage their work alongside your internal team. This is particularly useful for yacht management companies that coordinate multiple specialized vendors on a single vessel.
Yes. The base plan supports up to 3 users at 199 per month, with additional users available at 25 per month each. Role-based access controls allow you to define exactly what each user can
see and do within the system. For businesses with multiple locations or large teams, enterprise
pricing with custom configurations is available.
The standard plan is $199 per month for up to 3 users, with each additional user at 25 per month. An annual plan is available at a significant discount —contact us for current annual pricing. A single −
user plan at
99 per month is also available for solo operators. All plans include the full
feature set with no feature gating. Enterprise pricing is available for larger organizations.
Yes. A free 15-minute live demo is available where a member of the team will walk you through the platform using a real demo account. There is no obligation and no credit card required to see the demo. Click here to book your demo directly today.
In addition to QuickBooks and Xero, Yacht Logic Pro integrates with DocuSign for electronic signatures, Stripe for payment processing, Huggins for marine insurance and parts cross referencing,
and GHL (GoHighLevel) for marketing automation. The platform also supports Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for enterprise-level security, and Call & SMS capabilities for direct client communication from within the app.
Yes. Yacht Logic Pro is available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, in addition to the web application accessible from any browser. The mobile app is optimized for field use and provides full job management capability without requiring a desktop.
Yacht Logic Pro serves a wide range of marine service specializations including yacht management companies, marine mechanics, outboard technicians, marine electronics specialists, HVAC technicians, boat detailers, boat yards, marinas, high-stack storage facilities, and mobile service operations. The platform can be configured to match your specific service types, and the AI job creation system can be trained to your specialization for more accurate automated workflows.
Yacht Logic App
Yacht Logic is a professional crew operations and vessel management platform designed specifically for large yachts — typically 60 feet and above — operating with a professional crew. It was designed by a captain with 25+ years of experience running vessels up to 145 feet, which means every feature reflects the actual daily workflow of a working yacht crew rather than a generic checklist app adapted for marine use.
Yacht Logic is organized around the key operational areas of a working yacht: Tasks (job and activity management with three task types — Jobs & Activities, Checklists, and Watchlist), Trips (voyage planning and itinerary management), Inventory (vessel parts and provisions tracking), Boats (vessel profiles and specifications), Crew (crew management, profiles, and assignments), Guests (guest preference management and the guest-facing experience), and Settings (activity libraries, AI note taker, and system configuration).
Tasks in Yacht Logic are organized into three types. Jobs & Activities cover standard operational tasks assigned to crew members with status tracking (Not Started, In Progress, Awaiting Approval, On Hold, Completed, Rejected). Checklists are structured step-by-step procedures for recurring operations such as departure preparations, docking procedures, or safety checks. Watchlist items are monitoring tasks for ongoing vessel systems. All tasks can be viewed in card or table format, filtered by assignee, and tracked in real time.
The AI Note Taker allows crew members to record audio notes that are automatically transcribed and added to the vessel’s operational log or CRM. This is particularly useful for captains conducting walkthroughs, documenting issues, or capturing guest preferences verbally without stopping to type. Notes are stored and searchable within the platform.
Yacht Logic includes a dedicated guest management module that allows the captain and crew to store detailed guest preference profiles — dietary requirements, cabin preferences, activity preferences, allergies, and special requests. This information is accessible to all relevant crew members, ensuring a consistent and personalized guest experience across every charter or private voyage.
Yes. The Trips module allows captains to plan and document voyages including itinerary stops, crew assignments for the trip, and activity scheduling. Activity Libraries in Settings allow you to build reusable templates for recurring trip types, which can be applied to new trips quickly.
Yacht Logic is available at $199 per month for up to 5 crew members, with each additional crew member at $25 per month. An annual plan is available at $1,999 per year — a significant saving over the monthly rate. For large fleets or vessels requiring bespoke configurations, white label
options, or volume discounts, enterprise pricing is available via the Contact Sales option.
Yes. Yacht Logic is available as a web application and on iOS and Android. The mobile app is designed for use on deck, in the engine room, and in the galley — not just at a desk. Crew members can receive task assignments, update status, and communicate through the platform from anywhere on the vessel.
Generic task management apps such as Asana or Monday.com were not built with any understanding of how a yacht operates. They have no concept of watchkeeping, crew rotation, charter guest management, vessel-specific checklists, or the operational hierarchy of a professional yacht crew. Yacht Logic was built from scratch by someone who has lived these workflows, which means the terminology, the structure, and the workflows match how a real yacht crew actually operates.
Yes. The platform supports both private yacht operations and charter operations. The guest management module is particularly valuable for charter vessels where detailed preference tracking and personalized service delivery are essential to repeat business and referrals.
